Body undergoes changes but soul inside doesn’t. Dhira
Bhagavad Gita 2.13
Consciousness means pains and pleasures of the body.
dehino ‘smin yathā dehe
kaumāraṁ yauvanaṁ jarā
tathā dehāntara-prāptir
dhīras tatra na muhyati
As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change.
ABC of Spiritual knowledge
This Bhagavad Gita verse is the fundamental and ABC of Spiritual knowledge. If one understands that he is not this body but spirit soul then his spiritual life begins. Even though one cannot see the spirit soul through material eyes nevertheless through the symptom of consciousness one can understand it. Consciousness means pains and pleasures of the body.
Material body minus spirit soul is a dead body. Who can understand this? Only a DHIRA can understand. Dhira means very intelligent, not crazy; just the opposite of crazy.
The body and atomic soul
This atomic soul is floating in the five kinds of air (prāṇa, apāna, vyāna, samāna and udāna), is situated within the heart, and spreads its influence all over the body.
Below is a explanation from Srila Prabhupada in a Morning walk conversation with Dr. Singh:
Dr. Singh: Śrīla Prabhupāda, what about heart transplants? We know that the spirit soul is within the heart. But nowadays doctors can replace an old heart with a new one. What happens to the spirit soul in each heart? Does the person who receives a new heart also get a new personality?
Śrīla Prabhupāda: No.
Dr. Singh: Why not?
Śrīla Prabhupāda: Suppose I get up from one chair and go sit in another chair. Does my personality change? I may change my seat, but does that mean I have changed?
Dr. Singh: But the heart is changed, and the heart contains the spirit soul.
Śrīla Prabhupāda: The Vedas describe the heart as a sitting place for the soul. So when they transplant hearts, they simply change the soul’s seat. The same soul remains. If they could prove that by changing the heart they have increased the patient’s duration of life, then that would prove they’ve caught the spirit soul. But they cannot increase the duration of life, because people have acquired their bodies by a superior arrangement.
You have this body, and you must live within it for a certain period. If you simply change one of the parts of your body, that will not help you prolong your life. That is impossible. The doctors think that by changing the heart they will increase the duration of life, but that is not possible.

Purport by Srila Prabhupada:
Since every living entity is an individual soul, each is changing his body every moment, manifesting sometimes as a child, sometimes as a youth and sometimes as an old man. Yet the same spirit soul is there and does not undergo any change.
This individual soul finally changes the body at death and transmigrates to another body; and since it is sure to have another body in the next birth – either material or spiritual – there was no cause for lamentation by Arjuna on account of death, neither for Bhisma nor for Drona, for whom he was so much concerned. Rather, he should rejoice for their changing bodies from old to new ones, thereby rejuvenating their energy.
Such changes of body account for varieties of enjoyment or suffering, according to one’s work in life. So Bhisma and Drona, being noble souls, were surely going to have spiritual bodies in the next life, or at least life in heavenly bodies for superior enjoyment of material existence. So, in either case, there was no cause of lamentation.
Any man who has perfect knowledge of the constitution of the individual soul, the Supersoul, and nature – both material and spiritual – is called a dhira, or a most sober man. Such a man is never deluded by the change of bodies.
Soul which is eternal takes a body because of its own karmic actions. If it does good one the soul takes the form of human being or if its actions in a birth is of bad nature then either it acquires an animal form or plants etc. So for the same soul it acquires so many bodies and once the effect of Karmic action ceases ,by devoting its God given body to His service then the soul gets liberated and joins the band of Nithyasuris at SriVaikundam after which Nachagunaavarthadhe, ie it never returns to this boologam ,and be at the service of Him.
But the scientists say once this body dies it’s all over. No more life. They say consciousness is a product of matter. They will never accept the existence of soul & rebirth since they want to continue with their sinful activities without impunity and need not accept God. It’s like the cat thinking that if it closes it’s eyes nothing exists.
Scientists are biggest fools on earth. Following are the evidences. They say life came from chemicals. If we give whatever chemicals available on earth still they could not produce a blade of grass. Even a lemon tree disproves their claim because the tree is life and from it citric acid comes. Technically from life, chemical comes. They claim they landed on moon in 1969. Since then they could not do so, despite of advancement of technologies. Which sane man can accept that they landed on moon? In childhood days in schools we encounter this question, who landed on the moon first. Had i known about Srila Prabhupada in my childhood days i would have answered that neil armstrong never landed.😊
According to scientists by chance a blob of chemicals appeared on earth, by chance they reacted and a single cell life came, by chance it bacame two & multicellular, by chance they entered water & aquatics came & by chance so on and on many things happened and one day by chance a monkey came, by chance from that came Darwin & those scientists who agree with him came. By chance they took birth. What a great scientific finding.
So we see a small kid becomes youth and then old age. So body changes, but we do not change. The symptom of soul is conciousness. This proves that soul is still is present. Soul never does, so soul is the same person, but experiences many situation in a same body.
