 vāḻi parakālan vāḻi kalikanṛi * 

 vāḻi kuṛaiyalūr vāḻ vēndan * - vāḻiyarō 

 māyōnai vāḷ valiyāl mandiraṅgkoḷ maṅgaiyar kōn * 

 tūyōn suḍarmāna vēl

“Long live Tirumaṅgaiyāḻvār, the nemesis of religions expounding Māyāvāda philosophy; long live Tirumaṅgaiyāḻvār who blocked the effects of Kali; long live the king of flourishing Tirukkuṛaiyalūr; long live he who received transcendental knowledge from the mystical Lord by the power of his sword; long live the effulgent and glorious spear of Tirumaṅgaiyāḻvār who is pure at heart.”

 

sīrār tiruveḻukūtṛṛirukkai ennum sentamiḻāl * 

 ārāvamudan kuḍandaip pirān tan aḍiyiṇaik kīḻ * 

 ērār maṛaip poruḷ ellām eḍuttu ivvulagu uyyavē * 

 sōrāmal sonna aruḷmāri pādam tuṇai namakkē 

“The lotus feet of Tirumaṅgaiyāḻvār—who, for the deliverance of the people, explained all about the glories of the lotus feet of Lord Ārāvamudan of Kumbakōṇam, as revealed in Vedic scriptures, in his chaste Tamiḻ rendition Tiruveḻukūtṛṛirukkai, full of words of wisdom—is our shelter.”

“Once, on the seat of the large lotus flower that sprouted from Your magnificent navel You created Brahmā.”

oru muṛai irusuḍar mīdinil iyaṅgā * mummadiḷ ilaṅgai irukāl vaḷaiya * oru silai 

 onṛiya īreyitṛṛu aḻal vāy vāḷiyin aṭṭanai * 

“When You appeared as Śrī Rāma, You burnt Laṅkā—on which the moon and sun were not moving in fear of Rāvaṇa and which has three fortifications of water, mountain, and forest—with an arrow having a fire-spitting mouth and two feline teeth and shot from Your curved bow, Kodaṇḍa.”  

mūvaḍi nānilam vēṇḍi * muppuri nūloḍu mānuri ilaṅgu mārvinin * irupiṛappu oru māṇāhi * 

oru muṛai īraḍi mūvulagu aḷandanai * 

“Once You went as a dwarf brāhmaṇa, with a sacred thread and a deer skin on Your chest, (to King Bali), begged for three feet of land but measured with Your lotus feet and secured all the three planetary systems.”  

nāl tisai naḍuṅga añjiṛaip paṛavai ēṛi * nāl vāy

mummadattu iru sevi oru tani vēḻattu arandaiyai * oru nāḷ irunīr maḍuvuḷ tīrttanai * 

“Once You alighted Garuḍa who has a huge gaping mouth, two big ears, and a pair of beautiful wings with musth water pouring out from three places, with great anger causing all the four directions to tremble, appeared on the banks of the deep lake and removed the misery of the great devotee elephant, Gajendra.”

muttī nānmaṛai aivahai vēḷvi * aṛutoḻi andaṇar vaṇaṅgum tanmaiyai *

“You are always worshipped by the brāhmaṇas who possess the three fires (gārhapatya, āhavaniya, and the dakṣiṇa), the four Vedas, the five yajñas (brahma, pitṛ, deva, bhūta, and Atithi), and the six karmas (studying the Vedas, worshiping the Deity, giving charity, teaching, inducing others to worship the Deity, and accepting gifts).

aimpulan ahattinuḷ seṛuttu * nāṅguḍan aḍakki mukguṇattu iraṇḍavai ahatṛṛi * onṛinil 

 onṛi ninṛu * āṅgu irupiṛappu aṛuppōr aṛiyum tanmaiyai * 

“You are realised only by those great devotees who keep their five senses under control; who overcome the four demands – eating, sleeping, defending, and mating; who remain in the mode of goodness out of the three modes of material nature, eliminating the modes of passion, and ignorance; and thus get themselves out of the cycle of material misery.”   

mukkaṇ nāltōḷ aivāy aravōḍu * āṛupoti saḍaiyōn aṛivarum tanmaip perumaiyuḷ ninṛanai *

“Your glories can not be understood even by Rudra who is three-eyed, four-shouldered, decorated by a five-mouthed snake, and adorned with a six-braided matted hair.”

 ēḻulagu eyitṛṛinil koṇḍanai * kūṛiya aṛusuvaip payanum āyinai * suḍar viḍum 

 aimpaḍai aṅgaiyuḷ amarndanai * sundara nāltōḷ munnīr vaṇṇa! * nin īraḍi 

 onṛiya manattāl * oru madhi mugattu maṅgaiyar iruvarum malarana * aṅgaiyin 

 muppoḻudum varuḍa aṛituyil amarndanai *

“O Lord You as Varāha brought up the earth (with seven islands (dvīpas) known as (1) Jambu, (2) Śāka, (3) Śālmalī, (4) Kuśa, (5) Krauñca, (6) Gomeda, or Plakṣa, and (7) Puṣkara) on Yourhorn; You are the benefit of six rasas (sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent); You wield the five effulgent weapons (Pāñcajanya concshell, Sudarśana cakra, Kaumodakī gadā, Śārṅga bow, and Nandaka sword); You are four-shouldered, and are dark ocean-hued! You are always in ecstatic yoga-nidrā with lovely moon-like-faced mothers Lakṣmī and Earth lovingly and gently massaging Your lotus feet with their soft hands.”

 neṛi muṛai nālvahai varuṇamum āyinai * mēdahum aimperum bhūtamum nīyē * 

 aṛupadam muralum kūndal kāraṇam * ēḻ viḍai aḍaṅgac cetṛṛanai * aṛuvahaic 

 camayamum aṛivaru nilaiyinai * aimpāl ōdiyai āgattu iruttinai * aṛam mudal 

 nāṅgavaiyāy mūrti mūnṛāy * iruvahaip payanāy onṛāy virindu ninṛanai * 

“You created the four varṇās (brāhmaṇa, kṣatriya, vaiśya, and śūdra) and their respective dharmas to be followed; You are the five elements (earth, fire, water, air, and sky) which sustain the living beings; You tamed the seven demoniac bulls for the sake of Nappinnai whose hair is swarmed by the bumblebees; the six religions (sāṅkhyas, tārkikas, jains, buddhists, cārvākas, and pāśupatas) cannot understand your great qualities; You have kept on Your chest mother Lakṣmī whose hair has five qualities (soft, cool, fragrant, black, and long); You are the four puruṣārthas (dharma, artha, kāma and mokṣa); You are the tri-mūrtis (Brahmā, Viṣṇu and Śiva); You are the two results (happiness and misery), and You have pervaded all the creation.”   

kunṛā madhumalarc cōlai vaṇkoḍip paḍappai * varupunal ponni māmaṇi alaikkum * cennel

oṇkaḻanit tihaḻ vanam uḍutta * kaṛpōr purisaik kanaka māḷihai * nimir koḍi visumbil 

 iḷampiṛai tuvakkum * * selvam malhu ten tirukkuḍandai * andaṇar mandira moḻiyuḍan 

 vaṇaṅga * āḍaravu amaḷiyil aṛituyil amarnda parama! * nin aḍiyiṇai paṇivan 

 varum iḍar ahala mātṛṛō vinaiyē

“O Supreme Personality of Godhead! You are in yoga-nidrā on Śeṣa Nāga with hoods spread in opulent south Kumbakoṇaṁ which has many gardens full of flowers brimming with honey and fields of betel plants; where the perennial river Kāverī brings and stashes valuable gemstones; where there are vast paddy fields; which is surrounded by enormous forests; where many scholars live; where there are shining gold-plated high-rise buildings with flags on top touching the moon. You are always worshipped by Vedic chants by brāhmaṇas. I worship Your lotus feet praying for removing my material miseries; kindly relieve my distress.”   



iḍaṅgkoṇḍa neñjattu iṇaṅgkik kiḍappana * enṛum ponnit 

 taḍaṅgkoṇḍa tāmarai sūḻum malarnda taṇ pūṅgkuḍandai * 

 viḍaṅgkoṇḍa veṇpal karundutti seṅgkaṇ taḻalumiḻ vāy * 

 paḍaṅgkoṇḍa pāmbaṇaip paḷḷi koṇḍān tiruppādaṅgaḷē 

“The lotus feet of Lord Āravāmudhan who is in yoga-nidrā on Śeṣa Nāga—who has white fangs with poison, black dots on His hoods, reddish eyes, fire-spitting mouths, and His hoods spread—in Kumbakoṇaṁ—surrounded by the river Kāverī, lakes full of lotus flowers, and gardens full of cool, blossomed flowers—are always situated in the vast heart of Tirumaṅgaiyāḻvār.”
